Children entering Kindergarten at St Martin’s are allocated a Senior Buddy from Year 5 or 6. This buddy takes special care of the younger child as they settle into school life. Incoming Kindergarten students are introduced to their senior buddies at the end of the year prior to starting school during their orientation sessions. They will spend time with buddies during each session as they get to know the friends in their class as well.
When starting school, the buddies visit the kindergarten classroom and often eat together during break times. The Senior Buddies support their Kindy friends in developing friendships, mentoring and playing games in the playground.
